Grad opportunity of the week: paid IT related internship, Uxbridge

Hertz International, the car hire people, are looking to take on a recent grad for a paid (£6.08 an hour) 6 month internship in their offices in Uxbridge. The role involves, amongst other things, first line support and some database work involving SQL. Full details can be found here. The closing date is the 2nd of March 2012 though there’s always merit in getting your application in a bit sooner than that. Focusing on the quality first, of course.

Paid Grad Marketing Assistant competition

Although it feels a little gimmicky there’s no doubt there’s a paid Marketing Assistant position currently on offer from Technology Partners. They’re holding, quite literally, a competition for places. Check out full details here and if you like the thought of a full time £18k position in Slough it might be for you. Closing date, Feb 17th 2012.

Big graduate recruiter, vacancies for 2011 grads, immediate starts

Back to business. At the back end of last week we received a pile of grad vacancies through from Ernst & Young. Immediate starts. Wide range of types of vacancies from Finance Team Assistant (Finance), Application Support Assistant (IT) and Assistant Consultant (Admin and Project Management) to name a few. Whilst a few of the job descriptions look a little out of a recent grads depth (“credible and proven track record of success within reward/HR” anyone?) these look like a few quite unique opportunities to gain a foothold in a very well respected company. The job descriptions are on our graduate job boards that can be reached through the Current Jobs link on our home page.

Grad job of the week, big name, grad scheme places with 2011 start

Capita, the UK’s leading business process outsourcing (BPO) and professional services company are looking for graduates to join them as Trainee Test Analysts. A few things stand out about this one.

  • Unlike many grad schemes it looks like they’re accepting cv’s and cover letters, not online application forms
  • There isn’t a stated degree classification cut off point. Looks like they’re open to accepting degrees below a 2:1 level
  • There are 10, yes 10, roles available
  • They want people to start this side of the new year. It’s a crucial point to make. Here’s evidence of employers with graduate schemes needing you to START NOW, not in the summer of 2012. Keep an eye out for these. Not all grad schemes will be recruiting for next year. Still opportunities now.

The full job description is here. Read it CAREFULLY. Read it. Don’t scan it. Deadline date for applications is October 10th.

Grad job of the week – Accounts assistant, £16k, global marketing and technology agency

Okay, the salary isn’t necessarily something to get excited about but when it comes to entry level positions into a career in accountancy this could do the job. It’s just gone up on our job board and I know a lot of these vacancies pass people by so I’m sure the number of people applying might be less than would normally be the case.

It’s for a company called LBi. The closing date for applications is September 15th. A brief job description is here. It’s a fixed term job (up to 12 months) so there’s no permanent tie in. If we can be of any help with your application here in the PCC let us know: careers@brunel.ac.uk.

Grad job(s) of the week – Samsung, Surrey, grad marketing internships

Bit of a different one this week. Samsung in Surrey have 3 marketing related positions they’re looking to fill asap. Deadline for applications is June 17th. One Channel Marketing intern. One IT Business Marketing intern. One Marketing Admin Assistant. This bit of a difference? They are one year placements but they are open to applications from imminent grads. So you don’t have a promise that it’ll last beyond 1 year but when it comes to gaining a foothold in the market place and adding work experience to your cv it might be ideal. Salary circa £18k.

To apply send your cv and cover letter to me at david.gilchrist@brunel.ac.uk. Indicate clearly in your email which of the three roles you want to be considered for with that particular cv and cover letter. And if you’re applying for more than one of the placements you should be sending slightly different cvs and cover letters as the roles are distinct. It’s not a one size fits all.
