Sales opportunities and assessment centre practice – courtesy of Coca Cola

News has reached me of quite a nifty offer from Coca Cola. They are currently recruiting for graduate sales reps and to support that activity they are holding a graduate open day where you can find out more about what it’s like working at Coca Cola Enterprises and take advantage of some assessment centre practice sessions. A great combination.

When is it taking place? On July 25th at their office in Poyle, Slough. To sign up you need to go to www.cokecce.com/careers and apply for the role called June 2011 Graduate Sales Representative – South East Region. Use the Job Search box on the right hand of the page and the keyword search.

Who are you going to get to know?

Today Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg said that he wants to stop people getting on in life purely because of “who they know”. I can see what he’s getting at. And it’s undeniable that some people have a greater advantage of knowing people in influential places in the working world than others do. I also agree that the auctioning off of internship places to the highest paying bidder is simply not fair on the majority.

They’re having their launch event on Wednesday the 27th of October 2010 at The Graphic Bar, London with doors opening at 6pm and have a few words to add. Continue reading

Local employer approaches Brunel for grad talent

Earlier this week we received this invitation from Lonza Biologics (based in Slough) for recent graduates to a “Find out more” recruitment day that’s due to be held on Saturday September 25th. If you’re interested in a science based career it could be worth checking out.

I think this is a fantastic idea on the employer’s side. It’s an example of a company really meeting you as a potential employee half way. An opportunity to see if there’s a fit for both sides before either of you decide to proceed further. I’d welcome more of this from employers though the fact it’s going to be held on a Saturday shows the time pressures many employers are under during the working week.
